ST. LOUIS, Mo. (June 4, 2010) – Clifton Gunderson, ranked as one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and consulting firms, today announced it has merged with Humes & Barrington LLP – a full-service Certified Public Accounting firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. Humes & Barrington will join Clifton Gunderson under the regional leadership of Managing Partner Steve DeBruyn. The merger is effective June 1, 2010.

For 25 years, Humes & Barrington has served clients in the St. Louis marketplace and has been recognized as one of the best CPA firms in St. Louis. It is a full-service firm with a strong tax, assurance, IT, wealth management and general business consulting practices. The firm’s experts provide service to clients in a number of industries including manufacturing, distribution, non-profit, real estate, contracting, IT consulting and financial services.
Through this merger, seven Humes & Barrington partners including Brian Humes, Jay Barrington, Marilyn Lunnemann, Greg Schmittgens, Joan Humes, Joe Herman and Barb DuBois will join Clifton Gunderson. In addition, 53 professionals from Humes & Barrington will join the firm. All professionals of Humes & Barrington will remain at their current office location at 333 S. Kirkwood Road, Suite 300, St. Louis, Missouri.

Clifton Gunderson also today announced Dennis Bailey has been named partner-in-charge of the St. Louis office. Bailey will be responsible for the overall operations and growth of the St. Louis practice. He will also coordinate client services with other Clifton Gunderson offices across the state and firmwide.
Bailey has more than 40 years of experience in public accounting. He most recently served as an audit partner in the firm’s Peoria, Illinois office. He specializes in audit and accounting services with an emphasis on manufacturing, construction, wholesale/distribution, and retail industries. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. Prior to joining Clifton Gunderson, Bailey was a partner with KPMG.
